In Conversation With Mariella Simonelli - Studio Olfattivo

A selection of our favourite products have just launched at Studio Olfattivo, a luxury perfumery based in the small town of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, offering a collection of beautiful natural niche skincare. We chat to the Studio Olfattivo founder and skincare aficionado Mariella Simonelli about her passion for skincare and much more.

Why and when did you start Studio Olfattivo?

I opened Studio Olfattivo in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, a lovely small town near Caserta at the end of 2017, because of my lifelong passion for niche perfumeries and skincare, an industry which in my opinion blends beautiful luxury craftsmanship and cutting-edge research. I've always been so in love with it that right after my degree in pharmacology, I even took a post-graduate course in cosmetology!

What have your biggest challenges been?

My biggest challenge has been to promote and communicate the amazing quality of niche products in a small town where some fantastic brands are still unfamiliar to most people.

What do you look for when selecting a skincare brand?

I always look for performance, a pleasant sensorial experience, as well as sustainability and an appealing image. I aim for the best!

Why did you choose Irene Forte Skincare?

I remember reading about Irene Forte Skincare on Vanessa Caputo's Blog and immediately being intrigued. I bought a few products straight away and I tried them on my skin. The Irene Forte products won me over with their effectiveness, their pleasantness, and the vision of the brand. I instantly thought they were perfect for Studio Olfattivo!

What's the one beauty product you can't live without?

I confess I have a thing for cleansing and I consider it the most important beauty routine step. Cleansing products are a must for me.

What do you think the future of skincare looks like?

I am pretty sure it will develop around two key concepts: sustainability and holistic wellness.

What do you have in store for 2021?

Here at Studio Olfattivo, we'll be on the lookout for brands that are both innovative and sustainable.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Be determined and hold on to what you believe in.
