We've got some Friday worthy news to share with you...we've just launched at our first store in Switzerland, green lane in Zürich. Green lane offers an international range of high-quality natural cosmetics which are mostly all 100% natural, free of parabens, silicones, cruelty-free and vegan. They also offer a variety of individual consultations and have a beautiful spa... which we can't wait to visit. We chat to the Green lane founder, facialist and skincare aficionado Lara Schurter about her passion for skincare and much more.
Why and when did you start green lane?
The idea of selling natural cosmetic products was born in 2015 while I lived in Italy, where it's quite normal to see natural cosmetic products sold in supermarkets. In Switzerland, many products were only available in organic food stores or not at all and had a somewhat dusty image. Besides the natural ingredients, I also value textures, fragrances, packaging and design. I was convinced that I could excite many customers in Switzerland with a store for high-quality and aesthetic natural cosmetics.
What have your biggest challenges been?
Learning to be patient.
What do you look for when selecting a skincare brand?
The first factor of course is that all the ingredients have to be natural but the overall picture, design, results, certifications, the story behind the brand and founder is just as important. We like to choose very well-known brands but also smaller ones that are new on the market that can also round-up our assortment. For us, it is very important to introduce our customers to the amazing world of natural products that is growing every day.
Why did you choose Irene Forte Skincare?
We believe that Irene Forte resembles the overall picture we are looking for when selecting a brand. We also think that it brings something new to green lane with different ingredient compositions and new technology.
What's the one beauty product you can't live without?
I don't have one specific beauty product but I never forget to apply sunscreen and my favourite is Kypris Zinc Sunscreen SPF 30.
What do you think the future of skincare looks like?
We wish that the industry grows and that everyone gets more aware of the importance to use natural products. We also hope for even more transparency and the request of sustainable and fair-produced products. It should also evolve into something the consumer wants and needs and overtake the conventional offer on the market.
What do you have in store for 2021?
Well, we are expanding in 2021 so that is a very big project which will be our main focus.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
To be more patient and that mistakes are here to learn and grow from.
