The Hibiscus Flower is visually stunning to look at with its petals that fan out in a majestic trumpet shape. It comes in various colors such as red, pink, pale yellow or white. Hibiscus has been used in both Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine thanks to its many healing properties; it is touted as the ‘natural cleanser’. Apart from having many internal benefits, it also works wonders for the skin which why it is one of our spotlight ingredients.

The Botox Plant

Known as the ‘botox plant’, this powerhouse ingredient has super age-defying properties. It lifts, firms and gives elasticity to the face by blocking the enzyme elastase that is responsible for the breakdown of the skin’s connective tissue. Hibiscus flowers are also rich in Vitamin C which is vital for collagen production.

Antioxidants

Hibiscus contains special antioxidants called Anthocyanosides; these antioxidants help to combat damaging free radicals in the environment that cause premature aging of the skin. Anthocyanosides have natural astringent properties that reduce the appearance of large pores so that the skin appears smoother. They also have anti-inflammatory properties to help calm inflamed skin, making Hibiscus Flower very suitable for sensitive skin.

Hydration

The inside of Hibiscus petals and leaves contain high Mucilage content which helps the plant store water. The high Mucilage content improves the skin’s ability to retain moisture which stops it from looking and feeling dry and dehydrated. Exfoliation This flower has a high natural source of alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs) which unclog pores and treat oily skin. Citric and Malic Acid are the specific AHAs that Hibiscus contains; these acids gently exfoliate the skin, speeding up cell turnover, reducing hyperpigmentation and brightening the skin’s complexion. The end result is more even skin tone and brighter skin.
